Sermon given on August 7, 2022
The Christian God is a triune God, there are three persons, centers of consciousness, which make up one God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Today’s sermon was about the Holy Spirit. While God the Father was the main character in the Old Testament, and Jesus, God the Son, was the central character of books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, documenting Jesus’s life on Earth, the Holy Spirit is given to believers 50 days after Passover when Jesus was crucified. Recorded in Acts chapter 2, the Holy Spirit, for the first time, comes to reside inside those believing in Jesus. The Holy Spirit does many things, such as comforts Christians, gives them special gifts, and also convicts people of their sins. When we try to help someone see their need for Jesus, the Holy Spirit is the one One who can actually change their heart. So let us tell others about Jesus, praying that the Holy Spirit will soften the hearts of those listening so that they will believe.
